Race Report

If you take part in any race, we would like to know how you did and any relevant details about the event.

This is so that we can give accurate and appropriate information in both the monthly Bramley report and the club newsletter.

As a club we welcome members of all abilities and therefore believe that all performances deserve a mention, it is hoped that we can be inspired by each others results.

A form to enter your race details on can be obtained by clicking on report form.

Please fill in the form and e-mail it to Katy Simpson and Liz Andrew (details can be found on the form).

Grand Prix Information

The Grand Prix is a club annual event consisting of three races over the classical distances 3 miles, 10k and 10 miles. Points are earned with the male and female gaining the highest total being awarded the prestigious trophies to keep (and polish) for the year. There are also additional trophies for the best individual race over each of the three distances.

Points are awarded to reflect recent performance.

For existing members the average times over the last three years are taken as a benchmark.

In order to set a feasible goal, target times are then devised as follows:

3 miles              Target time = Average + 30 seconds

10k                    Target time = Average + 60 seconds

10 miles            Target time = Average + 100 seconds

20 points is allocated for just running, then additional points are gained by running inside your target time, more precisely:

3 miles              1 point for each second inside your target time

10k                    1 point for every 2 seconds inside your target time

10 miles            1 point for every 3 seconds inside your target time

Three year average times can decrease (get faster) by any amount, but can only increase (get slower) in any consecutive years by a maximum of:

3 miles    10%          10k     7%          10 miles     5%

For new members or members who have no previous race history, 50 points are awarded for just running each race. The times recorded will then be used for the following years target.

Overall it is a fair system that equates recent performance with distance and gives everyone a fighting chance to win the two trophies.

The results will be e-mailed out after each round, non e-mail runners will receive hard copies.

The overall results for 2007 can be viewed by clicking on Grand Prix Table.

Finally it is a rare (but not impossible) achievement for runners to gain a trophy for two consecutive years – click on to Grand Prix Winners for a full list of previous winners (plus best points totals and record times). Every year we are impressed with the number of pbs ran, so everybody has a good chance of winning overall.
