Millennium Runs-On Information
The
Southwell Running Club annual 10k race has been organised at or around
Christmas time every year from 1999. The race was run successfully up
to 2008, but the two races in 2009 and 2010 both had to be cancelled at
the last minute due to inclement weather. Despite these cancellations,
the event was a major success over the years for both runners and
organisers; most of all it was successful in raising funds for major
charities. Around £50,000 has been donated to charities; this is
something of which every runner and everyone connected to the event
should be immensely proud. SRC would particularly like to thank all of
their sponsers and Caythorpe Cricket for their assistance.
The
current SRC committee has reviewed the status of the event and
reluctantly come to the conclusion that it should no longer be staged
in its current format or time of year. The situation with regard to
organising any similar event in future will be reviewed by the SRC
committee over the next twelve months and it will report back.
A sincere thank you goes to all runners who have supported the event, watch this space for future news and keep on running!
